System Requirements


Q1:	What are the solution's operating system/software requirements (both server and client)?
A1:	This solution consists of the client system (media player hardware + software) which runs the Windows XP Embedded Operating System. The server component (WebDT Content Manager and WebDT Device Manager) software needs to be installed on a standard Windows 2003 Server. The server hardware is not included.


Q2:	What happens if Internet connection is interrupted or lost?
A2:	The WebDT Signage System requires Internet connection to download and update content. However, once the content is downloaded, it can run without the Internet connection. Temporary loss of Internet connection will not affect the operation of the displays. Once the Internet connection is back, the device will automatically check with the WebDT Content Management Server for content updates.


Q3:	What are the solution's hardware requirements?
A3:	The client system (media player hardware + software) comes with full hardware needed to run the client side. There is an option to use the WebDT display or use another LCD panel. On the server end, depending on how many media players it needs to control, you could potentially set this up on a Pentium 4 2.0GHz CPU with 1GB RAM and 40GB or more HDD space.


Q4:	What are the solution's database requirements? What types of data does it support?
A4:	No extra databases are needed for the WebDT Content Manager Server Software as it comes with its own internal Database. As for the WebDT Device Manager, currently the server software supports MySQL or MS SQL Server.


Q5:	What are the solution’s network requirements and/or options?
A5:	The WebDT Signage Appliance comes with a built in RJ-45 ethernet jack so you would be able to deploy this throughout your wired 10/100Mbps network. There is also a wireless WIFI 802.11 a/b/g option which is a factory installed option. Alternatively, you can also equip the WebDT Signage Appliance with a compatible 3G USB based GSM modem in order to utilize the Internet provided by your local cellular phone provider.
